Tyler Cote Fly Fishing Guide

Growing up in Maine I was fortunate enough to spend a part of my summer with my family in a cabin on the famous Upper Dam pool in the Rangeley region. It was there, at about 10 years old, that I caught my first landlocked atlantic salmon one morning in a canoe with my brother, literally about 100 yards from where Carrie Stevens originated her famous Grey Ghost streamer. After serving a hitch in the Marine Corps I returned home where I attended the University of Maine where I majored in education and minored in fishing the East Outlet of the Kennebec River. After college I taught school and spent my summers fishing and later guiding for trout and small mouth bass.

After taking my wife to fish in Montana, she fell in love. She later became the driving force in our migration west. I’m pretty sure I’ll spend the rest of my life being thankful to her for her sense of adventure. For me, being a trout guide in Montana is like playing in the big leagues, and working on the Bighorn is like going to play at Fenway Park everyday. I can truly say that I’m living my dream- and I’m pretty damn thankful for that.
